Tame end to India's challenge in Table Tennis
Monday, August 16 2004 15:06 Hrs (IST)

Athens: Indian challenge in Olympics table tennis came to a tame end when Commonwealth champion Achanta Sharath Kamal lost his second round tie in straight sets in Athens today (Aug 16, 2004).

Kamal, ranked 49th in the event, went down to 25th ranked Lai Chak Ko of Hong Kong 9-11 5-11 9-11 6-11.

India tasted bitter pills in the men's single scull rowing when their entrant P T Paulose finished fifth and last in Heat 3 by clocking a slow 8 minutes 00.11 sec.

Kamal's compatriot Mouma Das could not make a mark in the women's singles event going down rather tamely to Thailand's Nanthana Komwong in straight sets.
