Tuesday, August 17 2004 16:21 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: Gross irregularities forced the cancellation of the Common Entrance Test (CET) for medical and para-medical courses in Gujarat held last month, a senior official said last night (Aug 16, 2004).

"The examination conducted on July 28 last was not fair and transparent and hence it stand cancelled," said R J Shah, Chairman of the Committee set up by the Government on the directive of the Supreme Court to oversee the admission process for all professional courses in the State.

The CET was held in Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat and Rajkot.

The Committee began probe into the conduct of the examination after several parents and students complained of irregularities in the manner in which it was held.
