Another held in connection with Hasnabad rape case Thursday, August 19 2004 20:09 Hrs (IST)

The police arrested another person today (Aug 19, 2004) in connection with the rape of a woman at Eastern Railway's Hasnabad station on Tuesday (Aug 17, 2004) night.
An RPF constable was arrested yesterday (Aug 18, 2004) for allegedly
committing the crime, the State's Home Secretary, Amit Kiran Deb, told sources.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Railway said in a statement in Kolkata that RPF constable Kapil Deb Rai, who was arrested yesterday for allegedly raping the woman, has been dismissed from service by the Railway authorities.
Quoting RPF records, the statement said that only Rai was on duty when the incident occurred.
While informing reporters about Rai's arrest yesterday, IGP of Law and Order Chayan Mukherjee, had said that while the woman and her husband were waiting at the platform of the isolated Hasnabad station on Tuesday night, the RPF constable had taken the couple to an isolated platform, looted their belongings, beat up the husband and raped the woman.
Mukherjee said that the woman had identified the accused before the police.
