Mumbai:
Admitting that law enforcement agencies can no longer restrict themselves to geographical boundaries, American and Indian police agencies stressed the need for greater cooperation to curb growing cyber crime in world.
Law enforcers from US and officials from Mumbai police and National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) were participating in a tele-conference organised jointly by American Centre and NASSCOM.
Supervisory Special Agent of Cyber Division, FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), Rom Comers participated from the US side, while DCP (Detection) Mumbai, Dhananjay Kamalakar, DCP (Operations) Pradnya Sarwade, Vijay Mukhi of special interest group security (NASSCOM) and NASSCOM vice president Sunil Mehta participated from Mumbai.
"The discussion revolved around cyber terrorism, laws to curb it, spam, hackers etc, and underlined the need for more cooperation between various law enforcement agencies," DCP Kamalakar said.
He said Mumbai police stressed the delays caused to detect the accused in cyber crimes due to paper work since most of the portals have bases in the US, adding US authorities have agreed to cooperate on this front.
The US side threw light on various initiatives taken by the US to counter cyber terrorism.
