Indian rowing challenge ends; Oarsman Paulose loses

Athens: India's Olympic Games rowing campaign ended as it started with lone entrant P K Paulose finishing a lowly 27th out of 29 competitors in the men's single sculls event at the Schinias Olympic Rowing and Canoeing Centre in Athens today (Aug 19).

Paulose, ended up third in one the five-man classification 'E' final crossing the finish line in 7 minutes 22.43 seconds behind the race winner Ming Hui Wang of Chinese Taipei (7:07.84) and runner-up Daniel Sosa Bertoni of Paraguay (7:13.49).

The Kerala born Army rower was third over the first 500 metres, dropped down a bit to be fourth as the race entered the 1000m and 1500m mark, before recovering to take the third position.
