Dr Ramadoss held as he goes to 'lock the wine shops' Monday, August 23 2004 14:49 Hrs (IST)

PMK (Pattali Makkal Katchi) founder Dr S Ramadoss and over 100 women party workers were taken into custody at Tindivanam in Villipuram district today (Aug 23, 2004) when they went to "lock the doors of wine shops" as part of its anti liquor programme, police said in Chennai.
Reports reaching Chennai from Villipuram said that police had not allowed PMK to go ahead with the agitation.
Those taken into custody also included 25 to 30 men.
Ramadoss and other party workers were taken into custody when they came in a procession to lock wine shops, police said.
PMK had announced its programme against the evils of consuming liquor. "lock the wine shops" was part of the programme.
