Srinagar:
Moderate factions of Hurriyat Conference today (Aug 24, 2004) met in Srinagar and discussed the dialogue process with the Centre, over which they alleged the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government was giving "confusing signals".
Unification among the separatist ranks was among the other issues, which topped the agenda of the closed-door meeting, caretaker chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umer Farooq told.
He said "confusing" signals were emerging from the Centre over the dialogue process initiated by the previous NDA (National Democratic Alliance) Government.
"We would like to continue the talks based on the understanding with the previous Government that the talks will be unconditional, Kashmir-centric and Pakistan will also be involved in them," the Hurriyat leader said.
Mirwaiz said Hurriyat wanted to contribute its bit towards the resolution of Kashmir through peaceful means.
The meeting of the amalgam's executive committee, general council and working committee was also scheduled to discuss administrative matters.
