Athens: India's Anju Bobby George qualified for the women's long jump final with a superb first leap of 6.69m at the Olympic Games in Athens yesterday night (Aug 25, 2004).

Anju's first leap was better than the automatic qualification mark of 6.65m. She is only the second Indian woman athlete to qualify for a final in athletics after P T Usha's feat in the 400m hurdles in the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
