Athens: India finished seventh in the women's 4x400m relay final at the Olympic Games in Athens yesterday night (Aug 28, 2004).

The Indian quartet comprising S Geetha, K M Beenamol, Chitra K Soman and Rajwinder Kaur clocked 3 minutes, 28.51 seconds.

India had clocked a new national record time of 3 minutes 26.89 seconds to advance to the final finishing third in the semi final heat.

The gold medal went to the USA.
