K'taka CET: Govt hopeful of ending imbroglio soon Tuesday, August 31 2004 18:55 Hrs (IST)

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today (Aug 31, 2004) said an end to the imbroglio on admission to engineering, medical and dental courses was in sight following a consensus arrived at between Government and Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges (COMED-K).
Speaking to reporters after a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Dharam Singh and attended by COMED-K chairman R L Jalappa, he said most of the contentious issues have been addressed.
He said Government would hold another round of parleys with COMED-K leaders to arrive at a finality to the issue.
Jalappa had expressed dissent over earlier decision that emerged at a meeting attended by some private college managements agreeing for the Government quota of seats at 65 per cent and of managements at 35 and Rs 1 lakh fee fixed for management quota seats.
In the backdrop of COMED-K opposition, the Government had invited them for talks today.
