Mumbai twin blasts: Case adjourned till Sep 2 Tuesday, August 31 2004 17:43 Hrs (IST)

A special court today (Aug 31, 2004) adjourned till September 2, 2004, the trial in the August 25, 2003 twin blasts in the city, as the approver could not come to the court due to illness.
Designated judge A P Bhangale of Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) court adjourned the matter till September 2 after the special prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told the court that the approver had fallen ill and will not be able to come to the court.
He said that the prosecution intended to begin its trial with the deposition of approver.
The special court had framed charges against five accused on June 29. They are Sayed Mohammed Hanif, his wife Fahimida and associates, Arshat Ansari, Mohammed Hussain alias Batterywala and Mohammed Rizwan alias Ladoowala.
They had also been charged with carrying out a blast in a bus on July 28, 2003 and also with the recovery of explosives from a bus at Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone at suburban Andheri on December 6, 2003.
The prosecution submitted that the conspiracy was hatched in Dubai by nine Pakistani nationals at the behest of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT).
Two trunks of RDX, seized from the possession of the accused, were produced before the court on February 5, 2004 when the chargesheet was filed.
