Protest for HC bench affects Uma Bharti's case
Tuesday, August 31 2004 16:45 Hrs (IST)

Hubli: Slogan-shouting lawyers demanding that a High Court bench be set up in Hubli-Dharwad today (Aug 31, 2004) prevented the Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) from entering the court hearing the Uma Bharti case, forcing its adjournment till tomorrow (Sep 1, 2004).

As the court was to begin the proceedings at 3 hrs (IST), the slogan shouting lawyers blocked the entry of the APP into the court hall and shouted slogans against the High Court Chief Justice N K Jain for his position that it was not possible to set up the bench in North Karnataka.
