11 lakh looted from a Central Bank branch in Bihar

Sasaram: Unidentified armed men today (Sep 2, 2004) looted over Rs 11 lakh from a Central Bank branch in Dhush village under Nasriganj police station of Bihar's Rohtas district and injured two cashiers for offering resistance, police said.

They said, around six armed men arrived at the bank on three motorcycles. While, four of them went inside, two others stood guard outside.

They took the manager, cashier and other staff hostage on gunpoint and took away about around Rs 11.62 lakh from the chest box and counter.

The criminals hit two cashiers with the butt of their revolver for refusing to hand over the key of the strong room.

On getting information, the police arrived on the scene but by that time the criminals had fled, the police said adding raids were being conducted to nab the culprits.
