Militant groups clash over funds, 3 LeT ultras killed

Srinagar: Three Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were today (Sep 2, 2004) killed in a clash with Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district over distribution of funds sent from across the border to sustain militancy in the State.

A senior State intelligence official told, "From the inputs we have, Hizb and Lashker militants clashed following a disagreement over the share of funds from Pakistan for sustaining militancy in the State."

Two of the militants have been identified as Omar Pathan and Abu Jindal, both Pakistani nationals, he said adding that the third terrorist was a local.

The gunfight between militants of the two front-ranking outfits took place at Laktipora village in Shopian area of the district, official sources said.
