Unnao (UP): Samajwadi Party MLC Ajit Singh was shot dead by unidentified persons at a hotel in Unnao late last night (Sep 4, 2004), police said.

The incident occurred during a party thrown on the occasion of his birthday, they said.

Singh was shot in the head and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Kanpur where he was declared brought dead.
