'Inshallah, some way will be found to resolve JK' Tuesday, September 7 2004 15:57 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi:
Observing that Kashmir is a "complex" issue and the dialogue on it should continue, Pakistan has said New Delhi and Islamabad should show "flexibility" and "compromise" to resolve it and insisted that those using the proposed Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service should not require passports as travel documents.
"We have our point of view on J and K. India has its own stand. If the dialogue continues and I feel it should move on, then I am sure that, Inshallah (God willing), some way will be found to resolve it," Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said.
"Both sides have to show flexibility and compromise," Kasuri said in separate interviews to CNBC and Aaj Tak.
He said, "History teaches us that for durable peace, mechanisms have to be evolved which are acceptable to people of India, Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir."
Kasuri said Pakistan did not forward any "formal proposal on possible solution to the J and K issue" but said there were "processes" which were being strengthened.
In this context, he said his meetings with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and National Security Adviser J N Dixit were "very good" and efforts were underway to enhance people-to-people contacts across the Line of Control (LoC).
While maintaining that Kashmir was the "core" issue, Kasuri said Pakistan also realised that all the eight issues of composite dialogue process were important for durable peace in South Asia.
