The fraud case is itself a big fraud: Modi hits back
Saturday, September 11 2004 16:27 Hrs (IST)

Patna: Unfazed by the case of forgery, fraud and corrupt practices registered by the GRP against him, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) national vice president Sushil Kumar Modi today (Sep 11, 2004) charged Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav with having got him implicated in a false case out of political vendetta and dared the State Government to arrest him.

The fraud case is itself a big fraud. Laloo, who is himself facing serious corruption charges is getting his political adversaries implicated in false cases, Modi told over phone from New Delhi. Daring the State Government to arrest him, the BJP leader reminded Laloo Prasad Yadav of the political movement, which followed the "false case" against former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti forcing the Karnataka Government to petition the court to withdraw the case.

We will build up a similar movement in Bihar if any attempt is made to arrest me, Modi said without demanding withdrawal of the case.

"Being Opposition leader in the State Assembly for the past several years, I raised the issue of corruption against Laloo Prasad and his Chief Minister wife Rabri Devi time and again. Now as an MP, I am doing my duty by raising the issue of tainted ministers in the Union Cabinet," he said.

He alleged that Laloo Prasad Yadav was indulging in dirty politics out of vendetta to tarnish his political opponents.
