Air fare war: Sahara unveils low-fare plans
Monday, September 13 2004 17:24 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Taking Jet Airways head-on in the renewed fare war, Air Sahara on Monday (Sep 13, 2004) launched 'Steal Fares' scheme, which would be lower than the normal fares subject to their availability on select routes and flights.

Air Sahara followed Jet Airways, which on Monday launched 'Check Fares' on the same lines, to act as a complement to the advance purchase (APEX) fares.

The 'Steal Fares' of Air Sahara would be available to passengers in two categories of higher and lower levels and, unlike APEX, the passengers need not book tickets in advance.

Tickets can be purchased near the travel date on select routes and flights based on availability.

The traffic on each flight would determine the availability of seats under these fares on select flight every day, an Air Sahara release said.

Under 'Steal Fares', a Delhi-Mumbai ticket on flights S2-205, 203 and 202 would cost Rs 4,250 and Rs 4,950 at two levels, a Delhi-Guwahati ticket on S2-111 and 112 would cost Rs 5,750 and Rs 6,750 and Mumbai-Bangalore on S2-213 and 214 would be Rs 3,250 and Rs 3,750.

The Delhi-Bangalore fare on S2-122 and 123 would be Rs 5,855 and Rs 7,150, Delhi-Hyderabad on S2-135 and 136 would be Rs 4,750 and Rs 5,950 and Delhi-Chennai on S2-142 and 143 at Rs 5850 and Rs 7,150, it added.

The domestic airlines had earlier launched a fare war when they had introduced the APEX schemes and kept on introducing new features, primarily to woo second class AC Rajdhani passengers.
