Tuesday, September 14 2004 19:26 Hrs (IST)

Jerusalem: India will donate medicines worth Rs one crore to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) during the three-day visit of Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed to Ramallah later this week.

Besides medicines, six Tata Safari vehicles would be donated by India during Ahamed's visit to Ramallah beginning September 17, a Foreign Ministry source in the PNA said.

"India has been steadfast in its support to our cause at all world forums and the visit will reaffirm our traditional strong ties," the source said, adding a special ceremony has been planned for the presentation of the donations.

The Minister will meet Chairman Yasser Arafat, who will be hosting a lunch in his honour, and also join him during Friday prayers.

He will also be meeting PNA Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei and Foreign Minister Nabil Sha'ath during the visit.
