Madurai: A 37-year-old man of a remote hamlet in Theni district has married his 7-year-old niece to settle score with his brother-in-law for bringing a split between him and his first wife, police said.

The marriage was conducted after getting consent from Vijayaraj's sister who is the minor Amuthamani's mother, police said.

Vijayaraj, a father of three, took the decision to take revenge on Amuthamani's father whom he blamed for his wife (30) deserting him, police said.

Amuthamani is younger to Vijayaraj's first son.

Meanwhile, Vijayraj and his family including the first wife who had since joined him were absconding, police said.
