Sonia makes a veiled attack on Mulayam's Government

Rae Bareli: AICC (All India Congress Committee) president Sonia Gandhi today (Sep 14, 2004) made veiled attack on the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government on the question of law and order situation of the State saying it "appeared to be bad".

"From what I am hearing from the people and by reading newspaper reports it appears that the law and order situation is bad," Sonia Gandhi told newsmen in an informal chat during a programme at Sudauli Lok Sabha Constituency.

On being asked to what she proposes to do in this regard, Gandhi said it was a problem and she would speak to the Centre as well as the State Government on this matter.

Asked about the problems in her constituency, she said there was a need for development. People have complaints about water, electricity, roads and other things.

She said she would do everything possible for the development of the area.
