Observing that Tanzania and South Africa are India's natural partners, President A P J Abdul Kalam has said "networking Africa" would be a win-win situation for both the continents.
"With Focus Africa, India sincerely believes, we have to go all out and strengthen relationships as Africa is our natural partner," Kalam told reporters on way back home after a week-long visit to Tanzania and South Africa.
Kalam, who returned late last night after a four day State visit to both countries, said both Tanzania and South Africa observed that their partnership with India would be a win-win situation for both sides.
Elaborating on the "networking Africa", he said that he had proposed to the Pan-African Parliament, an important organ of African Union, a $50 million assistance to connect 53 African countries through satellite and fibre optic network and this was very well received by them.
He said India would provide seamless and integrated satellite fibre optics and wireless network connecting African countries for tele-education, tele-medicine and e-services. This network would connect five universities, 53 learning centres, ten super speciality hospitals and 53 patient end locations in rural areas.
