Eviction notice to seven former Union Ministers
Tuesday, September 21 2004 20:30 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Seven former Union Ministers including Ananth Kumar, Kanshi Ram Rana, Vinod Khanna and Jual Oram, have been issued eviction notices by the Urban Development Ministry to move out of their present accommodations to make way for the new ministers.

The notices have been issued to them as 14 ministers in the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government were awaiting allotment, official sources said.

However, Urban Development Ministry has made alternative arrangements for these former ministers from general pool category as they happened to Members of Parliament from either house.

Others who have been served eviction notices are Ramesh Bias, Ved Prakash Goel and M Rajashekhran.

The sources said the Ministry had to resort to strict measures for evicting former Union Minister Vijay Goel as he was occupying two bunglows and had carried out major construction work.

The Ministry was being flooded by requests from the previous NDA (National Democratic Alliance) ministers for extension of their stay in their present accommodations.
