New Delhi:
In a nationwide swoop against unscrupulous business units, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) today (Sep 22, 2004) seized products being manufactured using 'ISI' mark without a valid licence.
Six raids have been conducted in different parts of the country including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi and Daman on manufacturing and trading units using ISI brand without a licence from the BIS, its Chief Vigilance Officer Anant Dhul said in New Delhi.
He said two of them were conducted in Jalandhar (Punjab) with the help of state Police at the premises of Gee Sons Metal Industries and Pritam Malleables for manufacturing 'MCI' fittings under "Rally" brand.
He said a raid was carried out at Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh) with the help of local police against Country Cement for spuriously using Standard Mark on packaged drinking water under "New Century" brand.
In Jharkhand, a raid was carried out at Hazaribagh with police assistance at Jagdamba Electrical for using ISI mark on "Vijeta" brand of switches and plugs, Dhul said.
In Daman, raid was carried out with the help of local police at Essar Ferroalloys for spuriously using Standard Mark on copper winding wires under "Essar" brand, he said.
