Marathi film 'Shwas' nominated for the Oscar award
Friday, September 24 2004 21:47 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: Sandeep Sawant's Marathi film "Shwas" was today (Sep 24, 2004) nominated for coveted Oscar awards in the foreign film category.

The decision to nominate "Shwas" for Oscar was taken by the Film Federation of India after the body held screenings of films in various languages for last three days, producer of this year's President award winning Marathi film, Arun Nalawade said in Mumbai.

Nalawade said it was Federation's president Ramesh Sippy, who informed him about sending "Shwas" for this year's Oscar entry.

"It is unbelievable and I am really overwhelmed...I do not know as what to say", Nalawade, who has also acted in the film, said.

"It has reinforced my belief that whatever good is done is appreciated by the people", the actor-producer said in a choked voice.
