Best bakery carnage: One more arrested in Vadodara

Vadodara: An absconding accused in Best Bakery carnage during post-Godhra riots was arrested today (Sep 27, 2004) from the city outskirts, police said.

The person, identified as Sanjay Thakker, was nabbed from Umetha chowky.

Thakker was declared a proclaimed offender by the special court in Mumbai that is conducting the trial in the case.

With Thakker's arrest, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 17 while four were yet to be arrested.

Fourteen persons were killed when a rioting mob torched the Best Bakery on March 1, 2002 during the bandh call given by VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) after the Sabarmati Express train carnage at Godhra claimed the lives of 59 Kar sevaks on Feb 27,2004.
