SC dampens Taj celebrations; says no to fest
Monday, September 27 2004 17:15 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Taj Mahotsav to mark 350 years of the Mughal monument in Agra may not start today (Sep 27, 2004) as the Supreme Court declined to give permission to hold such an event near the 17th century monument without getting the views of the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) and the Union Home Ministry pertaining to its security.

The Court said, "We cannot permit you to hold it without getting the views of the AS I and security agencies under the Home Ministry."
