Stamp scam: Telgi's front man Abdul Mujahid dead Thursday, September 30 2004 14:07 Hrs (IST)

The front man of prime accused in the multi-crore fake stamp paper case, Abdul Karim Telgi, Abdul Mujahid, died in Indore today (Sep 30, 2004) on his way to hospital from the district jail, senior jail officer S S Chouhan said.
Mujahid complained of uneasiness and was referred by the jail doctor to M Y Hospital, but he collapsed before reaching the hospital, the jailer officer said.
Mujahid (70) had established Telgi's network in Indore and Malwa region under the name of an organisation Malwa Enterprises, police said.
He was arrested and brought in Indore by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on July 5 from Mumbai and later was sent to the district jail.
Mujahid belongs to Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and was posted by Telgi as his front man in the region for carrying out activities related to selling fake stamp papers in the region, police said.
The body has been taken for post-mortem, police added.
