Naxalites proposes direct talks with Govt on Oct 13 Friday, October 1 2004 19:35 Hrs (IST)
Hyderabad:
A day after unveiling their agenda for the first-ever dialogue with Andhra Pradesh Government, naxalites today (Oct 1, 2004) proposed direct talks on October
13.
The emissaries of People's War Group (PWG) and Janasakthi met Home Minister K Jana Reddy and handed over a joint letter by the two left extremist groups expressing their readiness for talks.
The State Government had last week invited naxalite leaders for direct talks on October 2.
The Government had on September 29 announced names of eight representatives, including three ministers, who will participate in the proposed direct talks with naxalite leaders.
"We did not have enough time to respond to your invitation. Moreover, there is police surveillance on us. We hereby propose that direct talks can be held on October 13," the letter signed by Ramakrishna and Amar, the State secretaries of PWG and Janasakthi respectively, said.
