NDFB militants gun down six persons of a family Monday, October 4 2004 11:40 Hrs (IST)

The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants shot dead six persons, including two women, and wounded eight others of a family in Assam's Sonitpur district late last night (Oct 3, 2004).
Police sources in Guwahati today said, a large group of the insurgents went to the house of businessman Indra Bahadur Agarwal around 11.30 pm at Gelapukhuri under Biswanath Chariali police station, and asked them to come out saying a meeting had been called.
As the relatives and workers of Agarwal assembled outside, the militants opened indiscriminate fire from their sophisticated weapons killing four on the spot and injuring 10 others.
Two of the injured succumbed to their wound in hospital where the other injured were also admitted.
The ultras fled away under the cover of darkness after committing the crime.
The dead included Indra Bahadur Agarwal and his family members Pinki Agarwal, Kamal Krishna Agarwal, Yadav Upadhya and his two employees Paplu Keot and Santi Keot.
Sources said that an extortion demand note was given to the Agarwal family a few days ago by the NDFB which was recently on an extortion drive to strengthen the banned outfit following the Bhutan Army operations on its camps in the Himalayan kingdom.
