Monday, October 4 2004 10:28 Hrs (IST)

Guwahati: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil today (Oct 4, 2004) visited Dhubri and other areas in lower Assam that have been rocked by militant attacks since last two days, to review the situation.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry Anil Chaudhary and Director General, CRPF J K Sinha accompanied the Home Minister to the extremist-hit areas.

At least 43 people have been killed in a string of attacks by NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodoland) and ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) insurgents since Saturday.

Gogoi had suggested that the Centre initiate co-ordinated action with all the North-eastern States against the insurgent outfits spreading terror in the region.
