'Bring in Uniform Civil Code to keep India united' Monday, October 4 2004 16:18 Hrs (IST)
Udupi:
Akhila Bharatiya "Sahapramukh" of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Indresh Kumar has called for a common civil code to keep the country united and integrated.
"Hindutva is nothing but nationalism which has been misinterpreted by the so-called secular forces in India," he said, addressing a public meeting in Udupi (K'taka) yesterday (Oct 3, 2004).
He alleged that in order to provide facilities to the minority sections, the Hindus who formed a majority were neglected which was "anti-democratic".
Kumar further charged that a "conspiracy" was being hatched against the Hindus through the appeasement of minorities who were being used as vote bank.
In the name of appeasement of minorities, the Government is trying to divide the society and Hindus should be "cautious about the ill-designs", he said.
The Hindu society today is faced with the threat of terrorism and terrorist groups are targeting "innocent Hindu people and Hindu places of worship", he warned.
Organisations like RSS have taken up active campaign to unite and strengthen the Hindu society to face the challenges posed to "destabilise the majority Hindus" Kumar said.
Sri Vishvapriya Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Admar Mutt who presided over the function cautioned that the "real threat of invasion on our people and our culture is not from outsiders but from our own people".
The awareness has to come from within to protect the Hindu culture, he added.
