NDFB ready to talk with Centre over 'sovereignty' Tuesday, October 5 2004 13:40 Hrs (IST)

The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) has said that it is ready to hold talks with Centre to achieve its goal of ''sovereignty''.
NDFB spokesman S Sanjarang in an e-mail statement to a section of the local media last night (Oct 4, 2004) said NDFB president D R Nabla while addressing cadres on the occasion of its 18th Raising Day on October 3 had said, the outfit was ''seriously considering the ceasefire offer made by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and will convey its decision within a few weeks.''
Nabla has also appealed to all cadres of the NDFB and Bodo people in general to prepare for talks and secure ''freedom either through peaceful and democratic means or through a prolonged struggle.''
The statement further said, that the Raising Day of NDFB was held with a day-long programme by its members and cadres at the General Headquarters where leaders of other militant outfits were also present.
