'Differences on job reservations a serious issue' Thursday, October 7 2004 13:01 Hrs (IST)
Pune:
Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today (Oct 7, 2004) termed as 'a very serious matter ' the dichotomy in views of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA (United Progressive Alliance) parties on providing reservation in jobs in the private sector.
"When the UPA parties talked about reservation it meant that they wanted it implemented through an act of legislation. However, what Prime Minister said, yesterday (Oct 6, 2004) in Mumbai completely negates this view and brings out the dichotomy in views between the Government and the parties," Advani told reporters in Pune.
"It is a serious matter. However, I, my party and the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) have a considered view on this which would be given once the committee set up by the UPA Government comes out with its recommendations," he said.
Advani said, Manmohan Singh had said that job reservation should be made by corporate sector voluntarily and can be done through a voluntary action by the corporate sector.
