Hollywood movie star Jackie Chan does a 'clean act' Friday, October 8 2004 22:53 Hrs (IST)
Hampi:
What better way to inaugurate a "clean Hampi Campaign" than have popular Hollywood action star Jackie Chan taking the lead to spruce up the place.
The "Action King", shooting for his film 'Myth' at the Virupaksha temple in Hampi for the past two days, promptly lifted gutka sachets strewn near the historic monument and put them in a garbage box.
Taking cue, the authorities immediately installed 12 garbage boxes.
The teenage heart-throb who has been camping with the 'Myth' crew with sultry siren Mallika Sherawat as his co-star, feels Hampi is an "excellent place, magnificent and un-exposed".
In an informal chat with reporters yesterday (Oct 7, 2004), the "media-shy" Jackie said his food habits were "simple" and preferred Chinese food "particularly noodles and little rice".
'Myth' like his other films is an "action comedy, the major part of which has been shot in Shanghai," he said.
"The action scenes are being shot at Mathanga hills, Lotus Mahal and Anjaneya temple," he said.
The shopping arcade is made to look like a "Virupaksha bazaar" with tribals putting up their shops there, he said.
However, Hampi is not new to China as several Chinese ambassadors have visited the site earlier, the action star said.
The shooting of the film which has artists from Hollywood and Bollywood is scheduled to be completed on Oct 14.
