Why can't Pappu be shifted from Patna jail? : SC
Friday, October 8 2004 12:12 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today (Oct 8, 2004) issued notice to Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav and the Bihar Government asking them to showcause why he be not shifted from Beur jail in Patna to some other prison.

The Court, which had stayed a High Court order granting bail to Yadav in the Ajit Sarkar murder case and sent him to prison on Oct 1, 2004, asked the respondent to file their responses within a week.

The Court also severely criticised CBI for the four-day delay in taking Yadav into custody after it had directed the authorities to take him into custody forthwith on Oct 1, 2004.
