Largest recovery of shells - 219 found in Delhi
Monday, October 11 2004 21:29 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: In the single largest recovery of shells in the capital so far, 219 of them were today (Oct 11, 2004) found abandoned in southwest Delhi.

"Two hundred and nineteen shells, of which five are suspected to be live, were found abandoned in a gunny bag in Najafgarh area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Deependra Pathak said.

He said National Security Guards (NSG) had been informed about the recovery and they would take possession of them soon.

The shells had probably been abandoned by some factory owner fearing police would search their premises.

Thirty-one shells had been found near Mayapuri in southwest Delhi last Friday.
