'Pak Rangers' arrive for bi-annual meet with BSF Monday, October 11 2004 17:08 Hrs (IST)

A 15-member delegation of Pakistani Rangers arrived today (Oct 11, 2004) for their second bi-annual meeting with BSF (Border Security Force) in Chandigarh during which problems faced by the troops guarding the international borders would be discussed.
The delegation which included Director General Pak Rangers for Sind Javed Zia and Director General Pak Rangers for Punjab Hussain Mehandi were given a guard of honour and received by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of BSF Hemant Purohit and other senior officials.
"We are here carrying the agenda of common problems faced by the paramilitary forces of both the countries which guard the international borders", Zia said.
Smuggling of humans and commodities, illegal constructions, problems in installation of searchlights on the zero line and issues related to barbed fencing erected by India were likely to be discussed at the meeting, he said.
The four-day meeting beginning today is the second bi-annual meet between BSF and Pak rangers.
