M'rashtra polls: Sonia kick-starts road show in Mumbai Monday, October 11 2004 14:40 Hrs (IST)

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today (Oct 11, 2004) kick started the daylong road show in the metropolis at suburban Mulund by urging the voters to cast their mandate for the Assembly polls in Maharashtra on Oct 13, 2004.
The Congress chief called on the voters to step outside their homes on Oct 13, 2004 and exercise their franchise.
Describing their right to vote as a powerful weapon she appealed to the voters to cast their ballot on that day.
Sonia appealed to the people in Marathi, "Aghadi La Mat Diya (vote for Cong-NCP-RPI alliance (Nationalist Congress Party- Republic Party of India-RPI alliance) in order to create a better future for India.
She also intermingled with the crowd and waved at them.
Sonia was accompanied among others by AICC (All India Congress Committee) general secretary Margaret Alva, MRCC (Maharashtra Congress Committee) chief Gurudas Kamat and RPI leader Ramdas Athawale.
The Congress chief later left in a convoy amidst tight police security. Her brief public address was marked by heavy police bandobast.
