Sensex opens slightly better and rallies further Monday, October 11 2004 11:31 Hrs (IST)

Not withstanding a weak overseas advices and high global crude oil prices, the sensex opened slightly better and rallied further in line with stock specific movements during morning trading on the stock exchange in Mumbai today (Oct 11, 2004) on selective buying from foreign funds.
The BSE-30 shares sensitive index resumed higher at 5764.86 as against Saturday's (Oct 9, 2004) close of 5757.93 and moved up further to a high of 5792.08 before being quoted at 5780.10 at 10.30 hrs (IST), up by 22.17 points.
According to market participants all eyes are now set on outcome of second quarter results.
On Wall-street, the Dow Jones industrial average and the Nasdaq composite index dropped by 70.20 points and 28.55 points respectively last Friday (Oct 8, 2004).
The South-east Asian market also displayed a bearish trend this morning. International crude oil prices continued to rule above $53 a barrel mark.
Index-based shares like Infosys, Larsen, Grasim, HDFC, Tisco, Cipla, ONGC, RIL and Maruti were quoted remarkably higher on good buying support.
However, Mphasis, Hindtmt, Orchid, Micrink and Videocon international showed moderate falls.
