Tehelka: 'UPA plotting to implicate Advani, George'
Monday, October 11 2004 17:36 Hrs (IST)

Darbhanga: Senior BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) leader Murali Manohar Joshi today (Oct 11, 2004) accused the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government of hatching a conspiracy to 'falsely' implicate top NDA (National Democratic Alliance) leaders L K Advani and George Fernandes by ordering fresh probe after winding up various commissions instituted by the erstwhile Government to go into different cases relating to 'fraud and forgery.'

"There is a conspiracy hatched by the present Government to implicate Advani and Fernandes in fabricated cases after disbanding the commissions of inquiry", Joshi told reporters in Darbhanga.

He advised the UPA Government to refrain from adopting confrontationist posture against political adversaries and work for the security and development of the country.

Alleging that terrorism had started raising it ugly head in different parts of the country due to the 'faulty' policy of the present dispensation, Joshi described the situation in the North Eastern States as 'extremely grim'.

"While the Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh has given a go-ahead to the PWG (People's War Group) to freely move with arms, the recovery of such huge quantities of the rockets from the scrap in different parts of the country has proved beyond doubt that the UPA Government is not at all concerned about the country's security," he charged.

Joshi also termed as 'unfortunate' alleged failure of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to 'effectively' raise the issue of terrorism during his recent meeting with Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf.

Referring to the terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP leader said 'the Centre is neither taking any effective step to counter terrorism nor it is exerting pressure on Pakistan to stop cross-border terrorism.'

Alleging that the Centre was failure on all fronts, he castigated the Prime Minister for allegedly having no control over his ministerial colleagues.

Launching an attack against the Laloo-Rabri regime in Bihar for bringing the State to the brink of disaster, he called upon the people to unite to overthrow the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) Government to establish peace and law and order.
