Theatre attacks force KFCC to put off meet with FFI Monday, October 11 2004 22:24 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore:
The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) today (Oct 11, 2004) put off a meeting with representatives of Film Federation of India (FFI) scheduled this Saturday in the wake of attacks on cinema theatres which defied a seven-week moratorium on release of non-Kannada films in the State.
"We have postponed the meeting due to the current volatile situation. We will inform them about a suitable date for talks in a conducive atmosphere," KFCC president H D
Gangaraju told after a meeting of the chamber members.
He said the chamber has communicated to the FFI as well as the South India Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) about the postponement.
The meeting with FFI and SIFCC was called by the KFCC to resolve the deadlock over release of non-Kannada films after the local film industry insisted on release of other language films only seven weeks after they are released in their home States.
Two cinema theatres were damaged today by pro-Kannada activists in the city for defying the moratorium, while a multiplex which was attacked on Saturday last has shut operations.
