Techies' protest on bad traffic in B'lore called off
Thursday, October 14 2004 20:05 Hrs (IST)

Bangalore: The Electronics City Industries Association (ELCIA) today (Oct 14, 2004) called off a planned protest tomorrow on Hosur road to highlight the bad traffic conditions on the highway linking the city, after Karnataka Chief Minister Dharam Singh called a meeting with IT leaders on October 18.

ELCIA, whose prime members include Infosys and Wipro, called off the protest demonstration after a letter from the State Government said, Singh would be holding a meeting next Monday (Oct 18) to take a decision on decongesting traffic on the road.

"We are hoping the CM would take immediate measures both short term and medium term to improve the traffic conditions on Hosur road," ELCIA President H Prakash Rao said in a statement this evening.

Electronics City is home to 100 industries employing 45,000 employees with potential software exports of USD two billion this year, it said.
