Helen Clarke visit to boost Indo-New Zealand ties

New Delhi: New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clarke will arrive in New Delhi tomorrow (Oct 16, 2004) on a five-day visit mainly aimed at giving a new thrust to bilateral relations.

Clarke, accompanied by her husband Peter Davis, will on Sunday leave for Agra and then travel to Bangalore and Mumbai before returning to the capital on October 20.

After a ceremonial reception at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday (Oct 20, 2004), she will call on President A P J Abdul Kalam and hold extensive parleys with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a range of important bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The developments in Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Asia crisis and UN reforms are among issues that are expected to figure during the parleys.

The New Zealand Premier will also have meetings with External Affairs Minister K Natwar Singh and Leader of Opposition L K Advani.
