Pawar entrusted to decide on M'rashrta CM issue Monday, October 18 2004 18:47 Hrs (IST)
Mumbai:
NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) president Sharad Pawar was today (Oct 18, 2004) entrusted to take all decisions regarding the political situation in Maharashtra.
Newly-elected NCP legislators unanimously passed a resolution in this regard.
The resolution was proposed by senior NCP leader and former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal at the meeting of the NCP MLAs at the party headquarters and seconded by incumbent Deputy Chief Minister Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil.
The decision assumes significance in the backdrop of intensified struggle over Chief Ministership among the Congress and NCP after the State polls.
NCP also claimed to have the support of 11 independents out of the total 19 elected in the just-concluded Assembly polls, NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar, who was the Central observer for the party meeting, told reporters.
