Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde resigns

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde resigned today (Oct 19, 2004).

Shinde, on his arrival from New Delhi, drove straight to Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation to Governor Mohammed Fazal to facilitate the formation of the new Government.

Fazal accepted Shinde's resignation and asked him to continue as a caretaker Chief Minister till alternate arrangement is made.
