Pak Oppn continues agitation against Musharraf Thursday, October 21 2004 18:07 Hrs (IST)
Islamabad:
Pakistan's Opposition today (Oct 21, 2004) continued boycott of Parliament for the second consecutive week, protesting approval of a Bill that allowed General Pervez Musharraf to hold the dual posts of the President and the Army Chief despite his pledge to shed the uniform by the end of this year.
Opposition MPs shouted slogan against Musharraf close to the Chair of the Speaker and later walked out of the National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament.
"We will not hold talks with the Government unless the Government withdraws the controversial Bill about President Musharraf's uniform," Opposition members told a news conference after their walkout.
The Government has constituted a three-member ministerial committee to hold talks with the Opposition to convince them to end the Parliament boycott.
"We will talk to the Opposition leaders tomorrow," Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said.
