Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his son and National Conference (NC) President Omar Abdullah today (Oct 24, 2004) escaped unhurt in a militant attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Militants exploded an improvised explosive device planted in a car parked on the roadside at Sarnal, 50 kms from Srinagar, around 11.45 AM when the motorcade of the Abdullahs passed by, Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravinder Kotwal said.

No damage was caused to the motorcade but two passers-by were critically injured in the explosions and one of them succumbed in hospital, he said.
