Race for power has led to M'rashtra stalemate: Surjeet
Sunday, October 24 2004 20:33 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet today (Oct 24, 2004) said race for power has led to the stalemate over Chief Ministership in Maharashtra.

"They all want power and we are not like them. We work for the betterment of the people," he told reporters when asked about the ongoing political tussle between Congress and NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) in Maharashtra over the issue of Chief Ministership.

On the filing a criminal complaint of defamation by sacked Censor Board chairman Anupam Kher against him for alleging that he had contributed to saffronisation process of the Board as an RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) functionary, Surjeet said he was yet to receive a notice on it.

"First let me get the notice. How can I let you know what to do?" said the CPM leader.
