Are you loyal to RSS or Power: VHP asks Advani Sunday, October 24 2004 14:17 Hrs (IST)
Nagpur:
VHP today (Oct 24, 2004) asked the BJP President L K Advani to decide his loyalty either towards RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh) founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar or towards chair (power) and described his appointment as only 'change of label'.
"There is only a change in the bottle while the liquid remains the same," VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) leader Acharya Dharmendra Maharaj told reporters in Nagpur.
"What makes a difference whether it was Venkaiah Naidu or Bangaru Laxman. All that needs in BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is the change in their policies," he asserted.
"Chehre badalne ki jarurat nahin hai, apni niti badalne ki jaruruat hai" (there is no need to change the face, all you need to do is to change your policies), Maharaj said.
BJP should shed 33 per cent of 'green colour' from their party flag, he said in an obvious reference to appeasement of Muslims by the BJP.
"By paying respect to saffron flag once in a year either at Nagpur or Agra, you can not transform the country", Maharaj attacked Advani who was in Nagpur at RSS headquarters for Vijayadashmi festival and paid respect to the flag.
"VHP is a big brother of BJP and was mainly responsible for the party's growth from just two to 175 members in Parliament and BJP should not have any grudge against VHP," he said.
On poll debacles in Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly, he came down heavily on BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan.
Without uttering his name, he said, "with five-star culture and mentality, how can you win elections," Maharaj posed.
Ridiculing Leftists' criticism of RSS chief K S Sudarshan, who had described them as 'marxputras', Maharaj said they (Communists) owe this identification for continuing the legacy of Karl Marx.
"Why are they shy of their identity or parenthood of Karl Marx. There is nothing derogatory in this description," he claimed.
On Leftists terming RSS as 'Godseputra', Maharaj said, "RSS ideology was born several years before Nathuram Godse was born."
